The Enterprise and Business Development Support Services (EBDSS) department carried out their post-graduation workshop, held on the 27th July, 2017. The workshop took place at CFID, House B, Fubara Anga street Trans-Amadi Port Harcourt Rivers state.
The workshop aimed at reinforcing the objective of YESAP in ways that would encourage the application of the acquired skills and proper utilization of the starter kits by the beneficiaries. The Senior Programme manager and Head of Department of EBDSS explained that the Youths Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Programme (YESAP) is an entrepreneurial skills training programme initiated by PHRC to improve the employability of Eleme and Okrika youths between ages 18 to 35.
The core objective was to provide the youths with sustainable means of livelihood, through the application of acquired skills and small scale enterprise development. The beneficiaries of YESAP 2nd Edition were presented with starter kits according to their respective skill areas during the graduation ceremony held on the 7th June, 2017, formally marking the end of the 2nd batch. However, with the programme ending, beneficiaries were expected to deploy their acquired skills to entrepreneurial use, more so, as starter packs were presented to them. Often than not, beneficiaries of this kind of programmes rarely apply their acquired skills thereby defeating the objective of the programme. Hence, the post-graduation workshop was to ensure that better entrepreneurs would emerge!
The workshop featured the main presentation by Mr Stanley Nyeche tagged Future After Graduation. During this session, the following areas were looked into: – the goal of YESAP, the journey so far and what next after graduation. Other members of staff present were – Mr. Gideon Achonmi and Miss Priscillia Okoh, who equally did their own presentations during the sessions.
