Accord for Community Development as an NGO have been involved in Peace and Security interventions in the Niger Delta over the years. To facilitate their mandate and mission of intervening for as well as ensuring a peaceful and safe environment in Nigeria, especially in Niger Delta region, Accord for Community Development went ahead to sponsor Wave 91.7FM second edition of the Walk for Safety, Walk for Security event.
Accord used this platform to once again send home their message of impacting sustainable peace and security in Niger Delta. The aim of the road walk was to advocate for peaceful society where everyone can enjoy safety, security and non-violent life, especially as security and peace ensures sustainable development of any society. The Walk gave Accord the leverage to reach out to more audience in propagating their message for peaceful and safe society. Accord’s Communication and Media unit Team members were actively present and covered the whole event.
The walk which took place on Saturday, 14th of October started with a warm up exercise at about 7 a.m at Wave FM office premise and proceeded to Port Harcourt Polytechnic Rumuola with over hundred people from all works of life participating. The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries in Nigerian security sector such as the police, Nigeria civil defence, immigration and customs, road safety, local vigilante groups etc, and other participants from all spheres of life in the society.
Participants dispersed after a brief notary speech from the Wave FM team in appreciating sponsors of which our noble organization – Accord For Development was proud to be among.
